At Daws Hall we run a variety of events and courses, including adult courses, open days and more of our popular 'Wild and Crafty' days for children in the school holidays. Please see the 'Contact Us' page for contact details and to book places on the events where booking is necessary.

Wild and Crafty
Monday 20th to Friday 24th July
10.00 am - 4.00 pm
£20 per head per day £90 for five days


Activities on the nature reserve for 7 to 11 year olds during the Summer school holidays

  • Monday: Countryside Creations
  • Tuesday: Bug bonanza
  • Wednesday: Wood you believe it!
  • Thursday: Run, Jump, Hop, Splash!
  • Friday: Dens, Dens, Dens!

All places must be booked in advance

To book please phone 01787 269766 to reserve a place, and request a booking form, then return the booking form with your payment to the Daws Hall Centre.

Activities will run from 10am - 4pm so please arrive between 9.45 & 10.00 am.

Activities will be supervised by qualified and experienced instructors, including qualified first-aiders. Children should bring a packed lunch (we will provide water and soft drinks) and be prepared to spend most of their day outdoors, so suitable outdoor clothing and footwear is essential, including a waterproof coat and Wellington boots. If someone else is collecting your child, please ensure we have written permission.

 


Adult Courses for the Public 2009

We would be delighted to run courses and walks for interested groups conservation groups, walking or rambling clubs etc). Subjects might include wildflowers, insects, freshwater animals or general wildlife. Please contact us if you wish to arrange a group course.

Please note that all courses must be booked in advance.

Mainly Mammals evening Saturday 11th July

from 7pm until 10.30pm

As night falls explore the nature reserve looking for signs of mammals, including live trapping mice in the wood and listening to bats by the river. Led by Centre Manager, Simon Perry. Younger naturalist are welcome if accompanied.

£15 per person. Pre booking essential

Moth evening Saturday 18th July

from 7pm until midnight

With expert Stuart Reed. At Daws Hall we have recorded more than 570 species of moth. An opportunity to use sweep nets and then light traps at different places on the reserve.
